Skills
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience as an electrical technician, industrial electrician, or similar role maintaining industrial or power generation electrical systems.
- Willingness to perform hands‑on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights.
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and rotating or on‑call schedules to support plant operations.
- Ability to remain focused in hazardous environments while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
- Must be able to work on‑site at the power generation facility, with potential travel to other SpaceX sites.
Responsibilities
- Perform operations and maintenance on plant electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, motors, VFDs, UPS units, automatic transfer switches, and emergency/black‑start equipment, at voltages up to 13.5 kV and 34.8 kV.
- Execute switching, isolation, LOTO, racking of breakers, and restoration of medium‑voltage equipment in accordance with plant procedures and NFPA 70E.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults on power distribution, protection, grounding, lighting, and auxiliary systems using one‑line diagrams, schematics, and electrical test equipment.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, inspections, and repairs to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Support plant startups, shutdowns, outages, and commissioning activities alongside operators, controls technicians, and engineers.
- Install, terminate, and maintain plant electrical equipment, cable, and control wiring as required for operations and maintenance work.
- Respond to electrical alarms, trips, and equipment failures; support root‑cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and utility personnel on switching, clearances, and electrical work that affects plant generation.
- Maintain accurate work orders, switching records, and as‑found/as‑left documentation.
- Follow all safety, LOTO, arc‑flash, and PPE requirements while working in energized and hazardous plant environments.
