Anthropic is building AI compute at a scale that requires new power and cooling equipment. The NPI Sourcing Manager will own the product introduction lifecycle for emerging power and cooling products, working across design, supply chain, quality, and site teams to ensure each product is qualified, manufacturable, and ready for production deployment.

Skills
- 8+ years of engineering experience in power electronics, electrical equipment, or industrial energy systems, with at least 4 years in an NPI, product development, or product engineering role that owned a product from prototype through production ramp
- Direct, hands‑on experience with at least two of: BESS, utility‑ or data‑center‑scale inverters, medium‑voltage transformers or switchgear, UPS, STATCOM/power‑quality equipment, or liquid cooling systems (CDUs, chillers, hydronics)
- Working knowledge of the relevant standards and how they are applied in qualification: UL 9540/9540A, UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, IEC 62477 / IEC 62909, IEEE C37 and C57 series, NFPA 70/855, UL 1778, and comparable IEC equivalents
- Experience defining and executing structured qualification programs (EVT/DVT/PVT, FAT/SAT, type testing, reliability testing) and closing failures with disciplined root‑cause analysis and CAPA
- Familiarity with supplier factory environments—production lines, test bays, quality systems—and the ability to assess a supplier’s real readiness to ship at rate
- Fluency in design‑for‑manufacturing and design‑for‑test principles and the supplier ECO/change‑control process
- Strong systems thinking: reasoning about how an inverter, a battery, a transformer, and a cooling loop behave together at a site, not just in isolation
- Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort driving decisions across engineering, supply chain, and executive audiences
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or power engineering, or equivalent experience
- Willingness to travel 30–40% to supplier factories and data center sites, including internationally
Responsibilities
- Own the NPI program for each new power or cooling product from concept selection through ramp, including gate schedule, exit criteria, and risk register
- Drive early supplier design engagement: translate site requirements into product requirements and specifications, and negotiate trade‑offs with suppliers
- Lead DFM/DFT/DFx reviews with suppliers so designs are manufacturable, testable in factory, and serviceable in field
- Plan and run prototype and pilot builds: define EVT/DVT/PVT scope and sample counts, witness builds, own test plans, and drive root‑cause and corrective action on failures
- Qualify the product for deployment: define and execute first‑article inspection, FAT, SAT, integrated system testing, and sign off on production readiness
- Hand off to steady state: transfer qualified products, control plans, test procedures, and known‑issue lists to Manufacturing Quality and Supply Chain Delivery teams, and support first production ramps
- Build the reliability picture: run FMEA/DFMEA, define reliability targets and burn‑in requirements, and feed field failure data into next revision
- Coordinate cross‑functionally with design engineering, construction, commissioning, utilities/interconnection, safety, and sourcing so NPI schedules are integrated with campus delivery schedules
- Keep suppliers honest: track readiness and risk with metrics, escape early, and hold technical reviews that resolve issues
