We are looking for a mid‑level or senior Infrastructure/Software Engineer for the Compute team at VTEX. This team owns and evolves the platform’s shared compute infrastructure, including EKS clusters, legacy Beanstalk migration, private networking (Private Link, VPC), load balancers, GitOps with ArgoCD, and the Core API. The role focuses on unlocking migration from legacy Beanstalk to EKS while ensuring reliability and zero downtime for dozens of dependent teams. The position is remote‑first and requires strong experience with Kubernetes/EKS, AWS infrastructure, and GitOps/IaC practices.

Requirements

Skills

  • Experienced backend/platform engineer with a solid track record operating and evolving Kubernetes/EKS infrastructure.
  • Hands‑on experience with production AWS (VPC, IAM, load balancers, Auto Scaling/Beanstalk).
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, proxies, inter‑service communication).
  • Comfortable with legacy systems in transition: experience migrating workloads between compute platforms is a major plus.
  • Familiarity with GitOps and IaC (ArgoCD, Pulumi, or equivalent).
  • Effective communicator capable of negotiating technical priorities and collaborating with product teams and other platform squads.

Responsibilities

  • Migrate and modernize critical infrastructure: Work directly on migrating workloads from legacy Beanstalk to EKS, managing networking, IAM, and functional parity.
  • Build for scale: Design and maintain compute and networking components (Private Link, load balancers, Core API) used simultaneously by multiple teams.
  • Operate critical production systems: Ensure high availability and resilience of the shared compute infrastructure, including participating in on‑call rotations.
  • Evolve GitOps and IaC: Maintain and evolve ArgoCD/Argo Rollouts and the team’s infrastructure as code.
  • Cross‑team collaboration: Act as a technical focal point for internal teams (Checkout, MasterData, Dark Kitchen, Traffic, among others) relying on Compute infrastructure.
