Anthropic is seeking a Staff/Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of the Security Fusion Platform, an event‑driven system that consolidates physical security signals across data center sites. The role involves designing the event bus, building correlation, alerting, classification, and analytics pipelines, creating analyst surfaces, ensuring audit evidence and metrics, and deploying the platform across multiple locations. The engineer will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle, work closely with vendors and integrators, and support on‑call responsibilities.

Requirements

Skills

  • Built and run event‑driven backend systems in production
  • Proficient in at least one backend language such as Python, Go, or Rust
  • Experience with a message bus or event streaming system such as Kafka
  • End‑to‑end ownership of a system: design, trade‑offs, shipping, and production support
  • Integrated with external systems (vendor APIs, on‑prem appliances, video platforms, building systems) and designed for long‑term vendor independence
  • Directed vendor or integrator work: wrote requirements and acceptance criteria, reviewed deliverables, and decided on acceptance
  • Designed for failure scenarios (silent feed, lost network, replayed event, de‑tuned rule) and performed testing for them
  • Built tools for operators used under pressure and iterated with those operators
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the event bus and normalized event schema
  • Build correlation and alerting services that turn events into actionable alerts
  • Build classification and analytics pipelines using computer vision and multi‑sensor fusion
  • Build analyst surfaces including queues, escalation tooling, dashboards, camera viewers, and video wall content
  • Deliver audit evidence with durable, tamper‑evident event history and export capabilities
  • Instrument metrics and self‑monitoring for detection rates, nuisance ratios, alert aging, and system health
  • Deploy across sites, commissioning local components and central services
  • Specify the compute platform (servers, storage, network segment) to meet security baselines
  • Write requirements and acceptance criteria for vendors and integrators, review deliverables, and accept or reject work
