Anthropic's Connectivity team is building the infrastructure that powers Claude’s external tool calls. As a Staff+ Software Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the MCP proxy and OAuth/token management systems, own reliability and incident response, create admin controls for enterprise IT, and contribute to the MCP standard and its SDKs. You will scope complex projects, collaborate across teams, and help shape Anthropic’s platform for enterprise trust and reliability.

Skills

  • Experience as a backend or platform engineer
  • Familiarity with using AI tools as part of the software development process
  • Product-focused approach to platform work and care about building solutions that are robust, scalable, and easy to use
  • Full ownership of work—from design through build, deployment, and operations, to iterating on and improving the product
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound technical decisions independently, with experience in both 0 → 1 and mature team or company settings
  • Experience operating production distributed systems with an understanding of reliability, observability, and incident response at scale
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build consensus across teams and time zones

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate the core connectivity infrastructure behind external tool calls, including the MCP proxy and OAuth/token management systems
  • Own reliability for infrastructure used by other teams and external partners, including SLOs, on‑call, incident response, and post‑mortems
  • Build admin controls and permission models that enable enterprise IT governance of agent capabilities
  • Contribute to the MCP standard and its ecosystem, including the spec and the official Python and TypeScript SDKs
  • Independently scope complex, multi‑month projects and drive cross‑org alignment
  • Make architectural decisions that shape Anthropic’s platform scalability and reliability
  • Partner with research to productize cutting‑edge capabilities
