UX research at Anthropic works across products used by millions of people, on interactions that don't have established conventions yet. You will inform critical decisions through rigorous research, working closely with stakeholders, combining qualitative and quantitative methods to understand user needs in a rapidly evolving space. This senior individual‑contributor role on the Platform research team will give you autonomy to design studies, build tools, and influence product decisions across developers, teams, and enterprises building on the Claude platform.

- Industry UX research experience independently scoping, designing, running, and reporting end-to-end studies
- Mixed-methods expertise: interviewing technical users well, and designing and analyzing surveys rigorously
- A technical background, in one of these forms: you've worked as a software engineer; you have a sustained body of developer-experience research on APIs, SDKs, or developer tools; or you have a sustained track record of researching deeply technical products. In practice: you can read our documentation, build something small on the platform, and keep up with very technical teams without translation
- Hands‑on use of AI in your own research: you already run your work through it and use it to build your own analyses and tooling
- 8+ years of industry UX research experience
- Experience setting the research strategy for a product or product area, with a track record of research that changed direction at the strategy level, not just the feature level, in direct partnership with product or organization leaders
- Experience embedding with engineering‑led product teams that ship fast and earning influence there, from the engineer who owns the endpoint up to the head of the organization
- Excellent storytelling, calibrated to audience: you can discuss a finding with the head of the organization as effectively as with the engineer who owns the endpoint
- Experience building with AI yourself using coding tools and agents, and an appetite to help build the research tools that don't exist yet
- Experience researching pricing, packaging, or how customers decide what a product is worth, especially for usage‑based or developer products
- Background in API‑ecosystem or developer‑platform research
Responsibilities
- Work with Platform's leaders and teams to understand what they most need to know about the people building on Claude, decide what is and isn't worth studying, and own that agenda
- Design and run the research yourself using both qualitative and quantitative methods
- Study the full range of people the platform serves: developers, the teams and companies building products on it, and the people who administer and buy it
- Communicate findings to product managers, designers, and engineers and follow them through to product decisions, while building the shared understanding of users that lets teams make good calls on their own
- Build the tools and infrastructure that let research keep pace with the platform, using Claude heavily and inventing methods where the existing ones don't fit
