Anthropic’s Auth & Identity team builds the authentication, authorization, and identity platform that underpins every Anthropic product. This role involves owning critical, high‑traffic systems end‑to‑end, designing new credentials, routing access decisions through a unified authorization system, building a first‑class identity model for service accounts and agents, ensuring global distribution and multi‑region failover, and deepening enterprise integration. The team seeks a senior engineer with deep experience in backend platform systems, identity protocols, and security‑adjacent infrastructure, who can shape the technical strategy and lead large migrations in a fast‑moving environment.

- Deep understanding of reliability and security, designing for on‑call, failure modes, revocation, and system availability
- Comfortable owning large migrations in live, high‑traffic systems: shadow modes, incremental rollouts, clean retirement of legacy paths
- Product‑focused approach to platform work, building primitives that are easy for other engineers to adopt with documentation and self‑service
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, make independent technical decisions, and communicate clearly with cross‑functional partners and stakeholders
- Familiarity with using AI tools as part of the software development workflow
- Experience with globally distributed databases and multi‑region service architecture
- Experience working in Go, Python, Rust, or TypeScript across a rapidly changing codebase
- Prior work on enterprise identity integrations with major identity providers and cloud IAM systems
