Skills

  • 5+ years (3+ considered for the right candidate) of hands‑on experience in field engineering, network operations, or telecom infrastructure
  • Understanding of fiber optic systems to oversee vendor work: ability to validate splicing, testing, and repair quality
  • Familiarity with network hardware deployment (switches, routers, optics)
  • Experience managing RMA workflows and spares logistics across multiple sites
  • Relevant certifications or willingness to obtain them (OSHA 10/30, BICSI, fiber certifications, confined space)
  • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
  • Experience building processes from scratch
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and move fast without waiting for perfect information
  • Bias toward action
  • Clear and direct communication, especially when flagging risks or blockers

Responsibilities

  • Own network infrastructure deployment, maintenance, and bringup across sites
  • Oversee outside plant and long‑haul fiber optic repair vendors: manage dispatches, validate work quality, and ensure SLA compliance
  • Execute network device installation, configuration validation, and commissioning support
  • Own RMA processes end‑to‑end: triage, swap, ship, track, close
  • Manage spares inventory and coordinate logistics across sites
  • Conduct physical asset auditing and cradle‑to‑grave lifecycle tracking
  • Coordinate with vendors for outsourced work and hold them accountable
  • Build repeatable processes and playbooks that scale with the team
  • Support various site deployments like rack‑and‑stack, commissioning, forklift, decommissioning as needed
  • Travel up to 40–60% to sites across the U.S.
