Anthropic’s Data Center Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical design of facilities across a rapidly expanding US portfolio, owning the architecture from the utility service entrance through to the rack. The role involves developing reference designs and specifications, performing engineering studies, and coordinating with vendors, utilities, and interconnection operators to deliver high‑density, reliable data center infrastructure that supports large‑scale AI training. Candidates will bring deep familiarity with US electrical codes, experience in power distribution and modular prefabrication, and strong stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design of critical data center equipment across the US portfolio, including utility interface, substation, generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, and grounding systems.
- Develop and maintain Anthropic’s electrical basis of design, reference architectures, and technical specifications for power distribution.
- Perform and validate engineering studies (short‑circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, load flow, power quality) to guide design decisions.
- Read and analyze floor plans and technical drawings to design DC hall layouts, rack positioning, structured cabling, and coordination with cooling design.
- Drive prefabricated and modular electrical strategy, developing modular skids, e‑houses, and power assemblies, and partnering with external engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Coordinate the interface between prefabricated components and onsite installation, managing temporary power sequencing tied to commissioning milestones.
- Standardize modular electrical designs across sites while maintaining flexibility for site‑specific constraints.
- Review and approve electrical design packages, shop drawings, and submittals from build partners and MEP consultants.
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment and build a diversified vendor base.
- Engage local utilities and interconnection/transmission operators to define site utility and network connection requirements.
- Present findings and proposals to internal stakeholders, defending design positions when challenged.
- Define project scope and provide technical support during construction, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
- Collaborate with commissioning teams to test and validate electrical system performance, resolving field engineering issues.
