As a Motion Designer at AKQA's Amsterdam studio, you’ll build motion design systems for .com platforms, apps, and brand identities, collaborating with senior designers and creative leads to create captivating motion graphics and animations. The role involves creating high‑quality 2D motion, UI animations, brand‑system motion principles, short films, and client‑facing presentations while staying current with design trends and emerging technologies. Responsibilities include system creation, production, collaboration, trend monitoring, flexibility across brand and digital systems, presentation creation, brief translation, and deliverable ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Create compelling motion design systems for .com sites, apps and brand identities, with a strong conceptual foundation rooted in strategic insights.
  • Craft high-quality 2D motion, product UI animations, brand system motion principles, and brand- or product short films, sizzles or montages with care and precision across all stages of the design process - from concept idea to detailed execution.
  • Collaborate closely with both client and internal teams of creative directors, art directors, brand- & experience designers; inspiring new perspectives and dreaming visions to life.
  • Have your finger on the pulse within motion & digital design trends, and curiously combine techniques and software to bring ideas to life and ultimately define culture in the space - whether it’s UI animations on a website or a logo splash closer.
  • Flex skillfully between motion systems for brand identities and digital experiences.
  • Create client-facing presentations that articulate your vision, conceptual rationale and philosophy as well as guidelines for execution.
  • Translate brand strategic briefs into innovative solutions for complex design challenges.
  • Take responsibility for project deliverables, ensuring they meet timelines as well as AKQA’s standards for creative excellence.
