Staff+ Software Engineer, Safeguards Infrastructure at Anthropic

The Staff+ Software Engineer, Safeguards Infrastructure role focuses on building foundational safety, oversight, and intervention mechanisms for AI systems. Responsibilities include developing infrastructure for data storage and management, metric and evaluation systems, and tooling for human and agentic review; maintaining the day‑to‑day operations of Safeguards systems; and building robust, multi‑layered defenses to improve safety mechanisms at scale. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, 7+ years of software engineering experience, proficiency in Python and the ability to work across the stack, and strong communication skills. Preferred experience includes building trust and safety, anti‑spam, fraud or abuse detection for AI/ML systems, building metrics and measurement systems, and proficiency in TypeScript or Rust.
