Skills

  • 8+ years building backend or platform systems in production, 3+ years leading large‑scale, complex projects or teams as an engineer or tech lead
  • Track record of shipping in fast‑moving environments where requirements shift under you and you still land something correct and maintainable
  • Care about correctness and data integrity as first‑class design concerns, especially when money is on the line
  • Enjoy cross‑functional work, collaborating with Product, Finance, Sales, and Legal
  • Built billing, payments, subscription, or fintech systems before
  • Direct experience integrating or extending third‑party billing and payment platforms
  • Experience with revenue reconciliation, financial reporting pipelines, or audit‑ready systems
  • Experience with enterprise commerce (CPQ, quote‑to‑cash, contract management, or B2B billing)
  • Owned payments optimization in a self‑serve or PLG environment, focusing on authorization rates, payment cost, fraud, and chargebacks

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship end‑to‑end billing capabilities, including pricing primitives, payment flows, contract and entitlement models, and revenue data pipelines
  • Build for correctness first, ensuring idempotency, reconciliation, and audit trails
  • Own interfaces such as the billing API and revenue datasets, designing contracts that hide complexity
  • Decide where to extend third‑party billing, payment, and tax platforms versus building internal primitives
  • Own the payments stack, managing authorization rates, retry logic, processing cost, automated dispute response, and fraud controls
  • Drive down manual work for enterprise contract amendments, pricing config changes, and billing support escalations
  • Operate shipped systems, owning SLOs on customer‑facing flows and instrumenting revenue pipelines for early discrepancy detection
  • Partner across the company, balancing needs of Growth, Sales, Finance, Legal, and Product teams
