The Platform Portability team owns the abstractions, tooling, and deployment infrastructure that enable seamless operation across clouds. As an engineer on this team, you’ll design and build systems that bring new capacity, ship the platform to cloud marketplaces, and move workloads between providers with confidence. Your work directly impacts the speed and reliability of delivering safe, frontier AI to users worldwide.

Requirements

Skills

  • Minimum 8 years practical experience building and operating production distributed systems
  • Own large‑scale infrastructure systems and lead ambiguous, cross‑team technical projects from design through production
  • Run the same production workload across multiple cloud providers, including migration or abstraction work that made it possible
  • Understand how cloud IAM models and networking primitives (VPC peering, private connectivity, service mesh) differ across providers
  • Write production code in at least one general‑purpose programming language (Python, Go, or Rust)
  • Work confidently with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Pulumi)
  • Understand ML infrastructure and supporting interconnects
  • Ship software through hyperscaler marketplaces or managed‑model platforms
  • Bring a background in security, compliance, or data residency for regulated or sovereign cloud environments
  • Care about the societal impacts of your work and Anthropic's mission to build safe, beneficial AI

Responsibilities

  • Design and build provider‑agnostic abstractions for storage, messaging, and connectivity that scale to frontier model inference
  • Build tooling that allows internal teams to provision, configure, and operate services across clouds via a consistent interface
  • Identify and eliminate provider‑specific assumptions in the codebase and set patterns to prevent new ones
  • Own the delivery end‑to‑end of Claude on partner clouds, including build, release, and validation pipelines
  • Collaborate with engineering teams at cloud partners and internal infrastructure stakeholders to ship features and debug platform issues
  • Influence cloud partner roadmaps and perform deep native integrations with each provider
  • Shape cross‑cutting multi‑cloud patterns, review designs, mentor engineers, and align stakeholders
  • Participate in on‑call rotation and design post‑mortems, runbooks, and incident response processes
